Glide powder

Glide Powder

Glide powder is glide wax in powder form for those who want to adapt their waxing to the snow, temperature and skiing conditions. Here you will find race powders, durable base powders and specialty powders from Swix, Vauhti, Rex and Star, among others.

Choose the right glide powder for the conditions

The temperature range is a good starting point, but snow type, humidity and wear also affect the choice. Fine fresh snow places different demands than coarse, transformed snow. Read the product recommendations to find a powder that suits today's conditions.

Race powders, base powders and additives

Race powders: for glide adapted to specific temperatures and snow conditions.
Base powders: used as a base in the waxing process when you want to build up a durable glide surface.
Cold powders and specialty powders: used to adapt the waxing to, for example, cold, abrasive or dirty snow, depending on the product.

The powder form therefore does not say everything about how it is used. Some products are intended as a base, others as a glide layer or as an additive to another wax.

How to use glide powder

Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for the base, amount, application and finishing. Many glide powders are ironed in with a waxing iron, while some can be worked with other methods. Use the temperature specified for the particular product and finish with the recommended scraping and brushing.

On classic cross-country skis, you treat the glide zones in front of and behind the grip zone. Choose the product according to its intended use also when waxing skate skis or alpine skis.
